The trade, as it has been recently stated on various basketball sports sites is as follows:
Let’s analyze this from a purely Fantasy Basketball perspective.
As far as NBA Free Agency goes, this has got to be a summer to remember.
The summer begins with 90% of the teams over the cap and armed only with mid-level exceptions.
Philly, due to trading Korver away for nothing at around the trade deadline, had a little money.
Memphis, due to the fact that nobody wants to play there, also had a little money (but apparently isn’t really choosing to spend it).
So nobody has any real money unless they don’t re-sign some of their top free agents.
An article recently came out in which Dwyane Wade said that Pat Riley had assured him that he would not be traded.
If you think about it, the question about whether he would be traded is absurd.
What would you trade him for?
I already went over all of the potential benefits in my last article. There’s no need to rehash those except to say that I think it was a good move for Phoenix, despite all the naysayers. They could NOT have won the title in the West before — not against Utah and San Antonio specifically, and probably not against the Lakers new lineup either. I don’t know if they win with this move, but they certainly were NOT going to win without this move, despite what all of the players were saying about almost winning last year.
Now, on to the Fantasy perspectives…
