Fantasy Best and Worst of Free Throw Percentage in 2008

Like Field Goal Percentage, how much a free throw shooter affects a team, good or bad, is based on how many free throws are attempted and made (or missed). Therefore, you not only have to consider the percentage itself but also how many times they get to the charity stripe.

With that in mind, it is actually very hard to judge who the best free throw shooters in the league are because both of these facts have to be kept in mind, but here is my attempt to judge the 20 free throw shooters who will most help your team as well as the 5 most likely to hurt your team.

Fantasy Best and Worst of Field Goal Percentage in 2008

I thought I’d approach this article a little differently this year and pick the twenty best and five worst players to have on your Fantasy Basketball Team in a Rotisserie League if you hope to compete for Field Goal Percentage.

With Field Goal Percentage, it isn’t solely based on Field Goal Percentage but on how many field goals the player actually misses.

Fantasy Basketball 2008 – Blocks

Where blocks are concerned, there are two players which stand out and then there a bunch of good players which really don’t come anywhere close. If you go for one of the top two players, you won’t have to spend any more time looking for blocks.

If you opt for someone different, you will most likely have to get three good block players to compete.

As bad as that might sound, it actually isn’t necessarily that hard considering two facts:

  1. You normally have at least a couple of forward positions, one or two center positions, and two or three utility positions where you can pay a little more attention and get enough blocks.
  2. There are a lot of good rebounders who can be counted on to get you some blocks, so you aren’t being forced to expend positions on players who only can get you one category.

Fantasy Basketball 2008 – Steals

Don’t forget about steals. In a rotisserie league, steals are worth just as much as any other category, but you don’t necessarily think about steals as you are drafting players.

Not too unlike assists, there are a few top steals guys at the top of the league that you really ought to consider drafting because making up steals with guys later in the draft just isn’t very likely.

Unfortunately, there is one player who is head and shoulders above everyone else when it comes to steals, but if you don’t have the first pick in the draft, you won’t have a chance at getting him.

Fantasy Basketball 2008 – Assists

Looking over the field, all I can say is get your assists early or pay the price.

The top players have really separated themselves in this category, and if you don’t get one of them you’ll have to really pay particular attention to nabbing second tier players that also get you a lot of statistics in other categories.

I don’t think I’d risk it, though. You have to go for one of the top 5 players if you hope to have a chance in assists.
