Fantasy Basketball 2008 - 3 Pointers

Like I do every year, I break down the best 3 point shooters from last year and decide whether they are likely to accomplish the same, better, or worse than what they accomplished last year. After all, players normally don’t change much in stats from year to year unless 1) they get moved to or from a starting lineup, or 2) personnel changes make it better or worse for them (including them moving to a different team).

What top Fantasy players should you avoid in 2008?

Every year we have a bunch of players who are considered top prospects who really should not be.

In my opinion, it should always be based on previous statistics and previous health rather than future potential. Every once in a while, a player lives up to expectations, but more often than not, the players that make it for the first time to the upper echelon have been moving that general direction for years or they surprise everyone.

Salary Cap Summer

As far as NBA Free Agency goes, this has got to be a summer to remember.

The summer begins with 90% of the teams over the cap and armed only with mid-level exceptions.

Philly, due to trading Korver away for nothing at around the trade deadline, had a little money.

Memphis, due to the fact that nobody wants to play there, also had a little money (but apparently isn’t really choosing to spend it).

So nobody has any real money unless they don’t re-sign some of their top free agents.

Team USA Announces 12 Man Roster for Beijing Olympics

Teams have to have mixed emotions about sending their players to the Olympics. Merchandise for their players and teams might increase, but typically players that compete competitively over the offseason have been riddled with injuries in the following NBA season.

The Utah Jazz are the only team to have two players chosen for the U.S. Olympic team.
