Al Harrington to New York rumor

The rumor out there is that Al Harrington will be traded to New York in exchange for an expiring contract. Don’t you love those expiring contracts?

Here’s what it means for you in a Fantasy Basketball perspective.

When Al gets the playing time, he is a very effective player for many statistical categories.

At Golden State, he has been in Nellie’s dog house and thus has seen little or no action.

If New York is willing to trade an expiring contract for him (especially when they are rumored to be in the LeBron James sweepstakes if they can cut enough salary), it can only mean that D’Antoni is willing to give him some significant playing time.

Honestly, Harrington seems like he would be perfect in a D’Antoni-run offense.

He would most likely play play at the power forward position position alongside Zach Randolph, relegating Wilson Chandler (unfortunately for many Fantasy owners) to the bench and further cutting into the time of fan-favorite David Lee.

Harrington owners have to be happy about this trade. If he has been dropped in your league (as he has been in about 1/3 of the Fantasy leagues), he is one that you would likely want to snatch up now (unless all of your players are ALREADY better than he will likely be on New York).
