Five Guys who are worth a look

After a couple of weeks of the season, we are starting to see who is getting the playing time and who isn’t.

Are there any guys available in your Fantasy Basketball league you might consider for replacing one of your duds?

5. Udonis Haslem – He plays center for the Miami Heat. He starts every game. He scores double digit points every game and is currently making 65% of his field goals. His rebounds aren’t bad either, having at least 5 rebounds in every outing so far this year. And there is no reason to think that he won’t keep all of this up (except perhaps 65% FG shooting.) He won’t necessarily be as consistent from game to game as you might like, but he could very well be better than the people currently riding your bench (or maybe even starting for you).

4. Luis Scola – He starts every game for the Houston Rockets (and has played over 30 minutes in most of them). With statistics of 12.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 53.6% FG, and 100% FT, he is probably doing better than all of the guys currently sitting on your bench. The best thing about Scola is that he will probably continue to do better and better as the season goes on and the other Rockets start going down with injuries and suspensions.

3. Nick Young – He has not yet started for the Washington Wizards, but he is still getting 16.6 points per game with 55.4% FG and 90.5% FT. When some of the Wizards start going down with injuries, you better watch out for his game. (With the Wizards, it’s always WHEN rather than IF.)

2. Nate Robinson – Little Nate Robinson is also not starting for his team, but he appears to be thriving in the D’Antoni offense in spite of that. Currently he is getting 15 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.8 steals per game, and has probably been the most consistent member of the team thus far.

1. Roger Mason – He just replaced the aged Michael Finley in the starting lineup, but Mason has been getting starters minutes from the very beginning of the season. With average stats of 52.7% FG, 90% FT, 2.8 3-pointers, 16.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists, the reason is probably obvious. With Tony Parker sidelined with an ankle sprain, look for Mason to take on a larger role, especially in the outside shooting department. With Parker and Ginobili out and with the aging Spurs looking towards their future, look for Mason to get plenty of opportunities to show his stuff.
