The national press have got to be the biggest bunch of bandwagon jumpers that there are.
After two games in New Orleans, the San Antonio Spurs were finished.
After two games in San Antonio, the New Orleans Hornets are now finished.
Jazz vs Lakers
As far as the Jazz - Lakers series go, there seems to be a lot less bandwagon jumping going on — probably because
- all four games were close, and
- the media like the Lakers and their ability to scan the audience for celebrities.
According to media reports, the Jazz were finished after losing two in Los Angeles — but they were pretty much finished going into this thing.
And apparently they are still finished, even though the series is tied again.
The Jazz obviously still have to pull one out in the Lakers or they will be going down in the same way that San Antonio would be if they can’t manage to win on the road.
Moving East
Moving to the East, the Cavaliers are in the same boat, though one game behind. Every homecourt team has won their home games, and the media are already trying to crown the champions of that series as well.
Amazingly, the Cavs win at home and they have NEW LIFE.
They have the same life they did before.
They have to defend their home court and steal one of four games from the Celtics in order to win this thing.
Same as they always did.
I’ll end with this…
And what is it with these stats on a team who wins a certain game wins the series. You know the stats. The team that wins game 1 has a 90% chance of winning the series… or some such.
What I’d really like to hear is the percentage of teams who win games 3 or 4. Aren’t those games just as important?
