I turned on TNT last night to discover that they were showing the Miami – San Antonio game.
I changed channels shortly after I saw that.
I realize that after winning the NBA Championship, some people were pretty high on the Miami Heat. (It seems like Miami is destined to play every Christmas for decades to come.)
I said even then that has to be one of the worst NBA Championship teams ever, luckily drawing the Dallas Mavericks who only play well against certain types of teams. But I digress…
Last year, they were crashing down quickly, rising and falling with the successes and injuries of Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal.
But it isn’t like this is news.
Everybody knew that they wouldn’t be very good.
All they can get on their team are rookies from the draft and has-beens hoping that Dwyane Wade might take them to the promised land in a weak Eastern Conference.
Why did they get so many games on the TV schedule?
And why are we forced to watch them play night after night? Can’t the schedulers, knowing that they are bad, rearrange times to get the other games airing (if indeed there is a time conflict at all)?
Heck, I think I’d rather watch Indiana playing Milwaukee rather than boring San Antonio try to put Miami into a 15 game losing streak (which they apparently did). At least I haven’t seen Indiana and Milwaukee playing before.
I know Miami is bad.
I know San Antonio is boring.
Let me see if Yi is any good.
At the very least, I can watch them for the fantasy value that Mike Dunleavy holds for me.
And if nothing else matters, they would at least be a novelty for one game. They certainly can’t be any worse than watching Miami lose yet again.
