It’s just as important in Fantasy Rotisserie leagues to make sure that you have some serviceable three point shooters as to make sure that you have guys who can score or get rebounds. Treat it that way!
For deciding on who are the top few tiers of players for the upcoming year, we will be basing a lot of the weight on what they did in the 2006-2007 NBA season. We will also consider off-season movement around the NBA that would affect their overall attempts. Additionally, we will also take into account injury situations that affected them last year and/or might affect them this year.
In other words, we make the assumption that everyone will likely do just as well as they did last year unless there is a good reason not to believe it.
With that brief introduction, I now quickly move on to who I think you should pick up to help you the most in the category of three pointers made. In parentheses next to them, I will put their total from last year and a guess on where they might be available.
1. Gilbert Arenas (205, 1st round)
2. Raja Bell (205, 5th round)
3. Mike Miller (202, 4th round)
4. Leandro Barbosa (190, 4th round)
5. Ray Allen (165, 2nd round) – Injuries limited him last year.
Tier 2
1. Mike Bibby (173, 5th round)
2. Jason Terry (162, 4th round)
3. Shane Battier (157, 5th round)
4. Steve Nash (156, 1st round)
5. Vince Carter (156, 2nd round)
6. Ben Gordon (155, 5th round)
7. Rashard Lewis (151, 2nd round)
8. Michael Redd (117, 3rd round) – Injuries limited him last year
Tier 3
1. Kirk Hinrich (140, 5th round)
2. Antawn Jamison (138, 4th round)
3. Kobe Bryant (137, 1st round)
4. Kyle Korver (132, 6th round)
5. Mehmet Okur (129, 5th round) – Also has center eligibility.
6. Manu Ginobili (128, 4th/5th round)
7. Brent Barry (128, late round) – He won’t play much, but he will make threes.
8. Al Harrington (127, 7th round)
9. Kevin Martin (127, 4th round)
10. Tracy McGrady (126, 4th round)
11. Jason Kidd (123, 1st round)
12. Ricky Davis (123, 5th round) – Not sure what lack of Garnett will mean for his numbers.
13. Stephon Marbury (123, 8th round)
14. Joe Johnson (119, 4th round)
Wild Cards
1. Rafer Alston (192, late round) – He does well every year, in spite of the fact that nobody gives him a chance to continue to do well. I think this year, with the addition of Steve Francis, he really won’t be quite as productive…finally.
2. Luther Head (177, 7th round) – He only does well when McGrady is injured. Lucky for him, McGrady is often injured.
3. J.R. Smith (149, late round) – The addition of Chucky Atkins at point will limit his impact even further.
4. Tim Thomas (136, late round) – He’s on the Clippers now, and injuries to key players may give him a lot more time in the early part of the season.
5. Chucky Atkins (116, late round) – Should be starting point guard for Denver now. Will Melo and AI set him up?
6. Jason Kapono (108, late round) – New big contract for Toronto. Will he produce?
7. Morris Peterson (106, late round) – Moved to New Orleans where he is destined to get more playing time.
8. Jason Richardson (110, 3rd round) – Moved to Charlotte, who has practically nobody who shoots. Injuries hampered him last year.
9. Anthony Parker (115, 6th round) – Mo Pete’s move should free up even MORE playing time
10. Smush Parker (110, 8th round) – Moved to Miami. Not sure how this will affect his three pointers, but Kapono did well in the system at a different position.
11. J.J. Redick (38, late round) – Entering his second year. Having a hot preseason so far.
