Fantasy Basketball Injury Update

The injuries are mounting.

We expected Kenyon Martin to be injured by now, out for the season with right knee surgery.

We expected Yao Ming to be injured for some of the season, but maybe not quite this long (out for 6-8 weeks with a fractured tibia).

We expected Shaq’s aging body to be out for a while (4-6 weeks after knee surgery).

We expected McGrady to be out for a while, and he has been, though he is finally returning to the Houston lineup. Don’t worry! Don’t worry! He’ll be out again in a month.

We expected Marcus Camby to be injured, as well. (Fractured ring finger)

We expected Chris Mihm to miss some time (out for the season after right ankle surgery).

There are a host of other lesser Fantasy players that are parked on the bench in street clothes, just like they always are.

There are, however, several standout players that aren’t normally injured. Despite out best laid plans, the injury bug has still managed to strike some of the best of us.

Paul Pierce is out 2-3 weeks with an injured foot.

Josh Smith is out 4-6 weeks after back surgery.

Brevin Knight has missed a lot of time this year, most recently with a groin strain.

Lamar Odom is out 3-6 weeks with a strained knee.

Bobby Simmons is out for the season after ankle surgery.

Nenad Krstic is out for the season after tearing his ACL.

New Orleans has been decimated by injury, losing Chris Paul, Bobby Jackson, Peja Stojakovic, and David West to various ailments and for various periods of time.

Rashard Lewis is out for 2-3 months (torn tendon in hand), and Ray Allen has already missed a bunch of time.

Chris Bosh is missing time with a bruised knee.

If you are wondering if you can pull out a win, know this. Everybody else has an injured player on their team as well. How can they not?!?! Look at the list!

Now, if you have 3 or more people from the above lists, well…. you’ll get ‘em next year.
