Fantasy NBA Basketball Stats Leaders – Steals

Nobody really picks for steals.

They accidentally get them.

Any good Fantasy NBA Basketball Player should really consider bumping people who are listed below to a higher ranking especially if they appear high in previous categories, which many of the players do.

In most rotisserie leagues, steals is a category, and it is a category that counts just as much as points scored, rebounds, and assists. While most people know that these count, it doesn’t dawn on them that they should be paying every bit as much attention to the lesser categories as they do to the ones we hear about all the time.

Fantasy team owners seldom pick these players because of their prowess at thievery, but I’d like to argue that they really should. After all, in a 10 team league where scoring is done by position in the statistical category, it could mean the difference between 10 points and 1 point.

And so with that nice intro, I bring you the steals leaders…

Steals:

  1. Chris Paul – 175
  2. Gilbert Arenas – 161
  3. Shawn Marion – 160
  4. Brevin Knight – 157
  5. Jason Kidd – 150
  6. Kobe, Wade, Ben Wallace, Smush Parker, Allen Iverson – 140s
  7. Gerald Wallace, Andre Iguodala, Eddie Jones – 130s
  8. Caron Butler, Fisher, James, Ridnour, Artest – 120s

If you don’t pick any of these guys, you are pretty much giving up in your steals categories. Do your research and make sure that these players will be starting. Arenas had some injury problems over the offseason, so be careful of him. Brevin Knight, like I mentioned for the assists, could be reduced to a lesser role.

Of course, some of the guys on this list are young, and will probably only get better. You should seriously consider picking up Chris Paul, even if you have to pick him up in the second round. There are a couple of other young players in there that are really worth a mid-rounder as well.
