In our continuing list of leaders, remember my advice from the previous article about the leaders in points scored — some of these players have switched teams and that can affect their stats positively or negatively for the upcoming season.
One thing that probably should be mentioned at this point is that it is really good if you can get players with multiple high skills. For example, listed below you will see some players that were also listed in the points scored leaders. The beauty of picking up guys like this is that they can address some of your possible second-tier needs in other categories. I’ll give you an example at the end of this article.
And now, to the monster men in the paint…
Rebounds:
- Dwight Howard – 1022
- Kevin Garnett – 966
- Shawn Marion – 959
- Ben Wallace – 923
- Tim Duncan – 881
Dwight Howard was a monster, and will probably be the only player who you might be able to sneek in the 3rd or 4th round. Do it if you can, but be careful about his free throw percentage..
Any of the players above will most likely keep you in the top echelon in the rebounds statistics all by themselves. You could also opt to take a couple of players from the list below to accomplish the same thing.
Second Tier Rebounders: Brand, Magloire, Jamison, Caman, Okur, T. Murphy, Webber, Odom, Nowitzki, Chandler, Gasol – 700s
Remember that Ben Wallace, Magloire, and Chandler changed teams over the offseason, and that Gasol has an injury that kept him out of the World Championship’s title game. That may or may not change your opinion on whether you want to pick them up.
I promised you an example of what you can do to stack up on multiple attributes. You’ll notice that several of the second tier rebounders also appeared in the first or second-tier of points scored (Elton Brand, Chris Webber, Antawn Jamison, and others). They will continue to appear in later categories as well. The more categories they appear at the top of, the more you should consider picking them up. They can address many needs at the same time.
