It looks like that trade with New York to get Starbury back into a Timberwolves uniform isn’t going to happen this year.
Mike James, who reportedly had been mulling over offers from Houston, Dallas, and Minnesota, among others, agreed with the Timberwolves on Tuesday to an offer reported to be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 years and $25 million.
Mike James was generally considered the best point guard in a weak free agent class.
The deal probably means that Marcus Banks, who Minnesota got in the mid-season trade, which included Ricky Davis and Wally Szczerbiak, will probably not be re-signed, unless Minnesota can trade Marco Jaric and/or Troy Hudson, who also play the point guard position.
