Vlade Radmanovic has bolted for the other side of the hallway to play for the Los Angeles Lakers. The 5 year $30 million deal was slightly less than the 6 year $42 million extension that he turned down last year from the Seattle Supersonics, but still a good chunk of change. This move should improve the outside shooting of Phil Jackson’s triangle offense. You have to wonder whether or not this affects Lamar Odom and the rumors circulating of his eminent trade from the Lakers.
Sam Cassell was offered a 2 year $13 million deal. For the aging point guard, that’s probably about as good as he would see. For the Clippers, that means that they will have the same tough leader this year as they had last year. That’s good news for Clippers fans, and only having a two year deal is palatable, even to Donald Sterling.
Tim Thomas, who has been rumored for some time to be very interested in remaining a Phoenix Sun, made the move to the LA Clippers. Even for only 4 years and $24 million, this appears to be way too much for the Clippers to pay for a guy who has only managed to help one team (the Phoenix Suns) for half a year. Perhaps he has turned over a new leaf from the other teams that he has played for, who were only too happy to run him out of town.
